Upcycled TeeShirt Halloween Treat Bag

Is it me, or did Halloween decorating begin before school started? I only just began getting my Halloween crafts together this week.

I hope I'm not too late getting started. My first Halloween craft is a Treat Bag. I upcycled tee shirts and with scissors, a little black and orange paint, and a shoelace my upcycled Trick or Treat tote bag came to life.

This is easy to do and is an almost no-cost craft if you use a clean tee shirt with little or no graphics on it and you have a basic craft stash.

This is basically what you will need:
  • adult small size tee shirt (any size will do, but we discovered that small is a good size)
  • scissors
  • cardboard cut from an empty cereal box
  • black or orange acrylic paint
  • foam paint brush
  • shoelace
  • halloween design template
  • contact paper or freezer paper
Cut off the sleeves and neckline at the seams and discard. Make a few cuts around the neck to weave the shoelace through. Cut 1 1/2" tabs along the bottom of the shirt. Paint your design on the front of the shirt. Add the shoelace and tie up the bottom which closes the bag so that the treats are safely brought home.

For the tutorial go to Halloween Treat Bag for detailed instructions, and also free templates are available to download.
