I made an easy bat ornament using an ornament that my mom had in her pile of decorations as a guide.
When I saw it I thought the kids would like having bats hanging around their rooms so we brainstormed and came up with a spooky bat.
With a little imagination, a few bottle caps, a black sharpie, black construction paper, orange glitter glue and wiggly eyes you can have fun with the kids and make a no cost craft.
If you do a lot of crafting there are supplies you always have on hand and if you save ordinary household items you can be eco-friendly and save money at the same time.
This project is very easy. In the photo the bat on the top was my inspiration and under the pumpkin you can see the two sizes of bottle caps used so that they fit inside each other. I cut out my own template for the bat wings.
- Use two bottle caps, one slightly smaller than the other so that the smaller one fits into the larger one -- this will give you a flat front and back so that you can decorate one side and glue the back side to the bat wings.
- Next paint the bottle caps black using the sharpie. You can try using paint but I ran out of black paint so I used the sharpie.
- Cut out the bat wings on black construction paper or cardstock. Glue it to the back side of the bottle cap.
- Decorate the bat wings and face with orange glitter glue and add the eyes.
- With a small piece of black ribbon, or string wrap it around the bottle cap for hanging.
Happy Halloween!!
